100 Wins and a Cloud of Dust

Naturally, Thibodeau brushed aside all praise for the accomplishment. Of course it reflects on the organization and the roster and all that, but wow. 100-30. Phil Jackson lost 42 times before his 100th win with the Bulls, and he had Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

To me, though, there is a more impressive wins stat. Thibodeau needs just three wins to match Vinny Del Negro’s second season win total. This in a season with twenty less games. And something tells me the Bulls are going to finish better than 4-10. No offense to Del Negro, but it would be difficult to understate the upgrade Thibodeau represents in the coaching department.

Season Del Negro Thibodeau
1 41-41 62-20*
2 41-41 38-10* **
* NBA Best, ** 14 Games Remaining

You know it’s good when sports writers who lived through the six Bulls championships say things like thisI’m sorry if this makes me sound like an unabashed homer, but Chicago is hoops heaven right now.
